The District
The Northern Rivers Hinterland is a sprawling collection of rolling green hills covered in eucalyptus and dense forests, a place known as much for its laidback hippie culture and quirky villages as its natural beauty. It is also a place of rich agricultural land and home to a variety of farming industries for over a century.
Corndale is a small rural location within the local government area of Lismore and is situated in the heart of the beautiful Northern Rivers hinterland of New South Wales in Bundjalung country. Corndale itself is fairly small and hosts around 350 residents. The properties in the area are mainly farming or mixed farming and large homestead, lifestyle properties with excellent agricultural land and rainforest making up the main topography.
Just five minutes to the north is Rosebank and another five further on is the World Heritage-listed rainforest that is the Nightcap National Park, ideal for a day trip or overnight adventure, you’ll find great campgrounds, picnic areas, walks and stunning views. Heading south west is Bexhill, just ten minutes away, while Lismore is around a twenty minute drive, where you will find an inland city.
Lismore is the region’s major commercial centre and is also a tourism gateway to the region, with its own airport and highways and roads that connect the hinterland and the coastal towns to the city. Lismore has a strong sporting and cultural life, and there are many festivals, theatre productions a very active regional gallery, plus the Southern Cross University that draws students from around the country.
Forty minutes will get you to the coastal meccas of Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Mullimbimby, making Corndale the perfect lifestyle location away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the tourists, but all conveniently accessible and within reach.
